As a former competition climber, Emily Harrington is no stranger to hard, structured training.  However, now that her passion lies more in exploring different mediums of climbing in the big mountains, her training has taken on a different tone.  Instead of spending day after day in a climbing gym, Emily trains by taking advantage of all the diverse outdoor opportunities around her home in Tahoe, California.

“Emily Harrington lives and trains to become the best all around mountain athlete she can at her home in Tahoe, California. With some help from her friends, she keeps her routines diverse and fun by mixing it up every day. She may go skinning and ski touring with her friends one day, and then climb and ski at the resort the next. She doesn’t count calories or reps, Emily gets out and plays in the mountains and that keeps her fit for big adventures.” – The North Face

This change in her training approach, however, doesn’t mean Emily isn’t still working towards her goals.  In fact, as this video shows, Emily is as motivated as ever.  She has simply figured out the best way to enjoy her training and the entire process of working towards her goals.

Training – Emily Harrington’s Mountain Life Video

While this video won’t teach you a new workout or delve into the minutia of training, that’s exactly the point.  It will, however, get you psyched and inspired to work hard and enjoy the process.  Ultimately, this video definitely deserves a watch and is great reminder that while it’s important to train hard to achieve your goals it doesn’t mean training can’t be a fun and enjoyable process.
