We decided to create TrainingBeta a couple years ago because the training programs in books, online, in blog posts, and in pdfs were not cutting it for me. I don’t mean any disrespect to the other trainers out there; don’t get me wrong. They had awesome information, and LOADS of it sometimes.

And that was the problem for me: information overload.

I just wanted someone to tell me what to do in the gym.

Today. Then what to do tomorrow, and every day after that until I was sending my projects. I didn’t really have time to sift through all the research they cited, or figure out how their theories and hypotheticals related to my climbing training needs.

As a route climber, I wanted a guide that would lead me through a workout without me having to do calculus to figure out what I should be doing. For instance, how many routes should I do? How hard should they be? Then exactly what to do in the weight room afterward.

Then exactly what to do on the fingerboard during my next workout. Should I run for fitness? Should I campus? If so, how much and when, and what should my campus board workout look like?

So… since February of 2013, we’ve been creating programs that are super easy to follow, with almost no thinking involved. They’re really effective, according to the many happy emails we get from climbers. And they’re much more affordable than a personal climbing trainer, who may or may not even know what they’re doing.

Today, we’re proud and excited to announce that we’re adding a Route Climbing Training Program to our family of training programs!

Finally!

Details of the Route Climbing Training Program:

This is an easy-to-follow, step-by-step program that will improve the power endurance, strength, and fitness of any level of route climber. Stay on the program for as long as you want, and cancel at any time.

  • You get 3 unique workouts every week in your dashboard online.
  • The workouts include climbing, fitness, core, fingerboard, and campus board.
  • You train power endurance, finger strength, cardio, power, and strength.
  • The workouts are almost never over 2 hours long (efficient, right?).
  • The program was created by climbing trainer, Kris Peters.
  • It’s scalable for every level of route climber.
  • It’s an ongoing subscription program, so you can train all year round if you want.
  • It’s very affordable, starting at $12.49/mo, and there’s a free 2 week trial.

If you’re at a point in your route climbing where you know you need to get stronger in order to meet your goals, consider giving this program a try. Even though climbing season is upon us in a lot of places, remember that you can get a lot out of training in just a short period of time.

Last year, I got noticeably stronger in just a few weeks, going from not being able to clip 2 bolts or do the crux move on my project to reliably clipping the bolts, and crushing the crux.

Climbing a lot only gets us so much stronger.

At a certain point (which sometimes resembles a plateau), we have to start being more strategic about training, and maybe do things we don’t necessarily love doing. Like fingerboarding and lifting weights.

What we’ve seen from the Bouldering Strength and Power program (the Route Climbing Training Program’s sister of sorts), is that it works. People are psyched on their progress, and even if they’re just using the workouts as a template for their training, they’re seeing results.

We want to see you succeed out there!

When we’re climbing in the Red or Vegas or Rifle or wherever, we get PSYCHED for people who are reaching their goals, whether they’re on a 5.9 or a 5.15. That’s why we do what we do here: make training accessible for everyone. So go get it and we’ll see you out there!
