Things like the campus board, the fingerboard, and systems walls are training tools. As with all tools, they only work if they are used properly.
To help you learn exactly what the campus board is and how to use it properly, here’s an article from the FrictionLabs blog.
“A campus board is a slightly overhanging, suspended wooden board with a variety of different-sized “rungs” (i.e. edges) in evenly-spaced vertical increments. The term “campus” implies pulling up on holds without the use of your feet. Technically, you can practice this technique on any campus-friendly route in the gym, but the campus board is specially designed for training. As you can imagine, performing controlled pull-ups on small edges massively increases your finger strength––not to mention your core muscles and deadpoint accuracy.” – FrictionLabs

Campusing Disclaimer
One quick disclaimer. As FrictionLabs notes in their article, campusing is not a beginner training technique. If you are newer to climbing or training, do yourself a favor and proceed with caution. Less time campusing well is much better and safer than a lot of campusing done poorly. As with all power training, quality is more important than quantity!
