Emily Harrington is a very strong rock climber and an all around talented mountain athlete. She trains really hardĀ for it and it pays off.

In this La Sportiva video from Louder Than 11 (lt11.com), Emily Harrington shares some of her training goals for 2015. Emily talks about the importance of setting goals for your training and of sharing your goals with others. This holds you accountable!

Its so scary, talking about goals. That’s why I’m hesitant to talk about it because it makes me feel accountable, having it out there in the world for other people to hear. It makes me feelĀ like I need to get my ass in gear and start working hard.” -Emily Harrington

She shows what training for her specific goals looks like.Ā Emily mentions the importance in having a training plan for structure. She is working with teamof2training (teamof2climbing.com) including Kris Peters (author of many of ourĀ training programs) to help her train with a purpose.

Training isĀ about trying hard and using the resources you have around you. EmilyĀ uses her local bouldering to train for power, and shows how it requires you to try really hard. Ā She uses her local trad climbing area, spending time training on easier cracks (for her) toĀ learn how to be better and more efficient at crack climbingĀ to prepare for her goal on El Cap.Ā She hasĀ aĀ treadwall for training endurance where she can getĀ super pumped and works on fighting for each move by the end. And Emily goes ski touring to work on her cardio.
