I wanted to post this article because it shows what determination, perseverance, training hard, and never giving up can lead to. Put simply, it’s a story of good old fashioned try hard, that worked.
Mike Doyle sent Necessary Evil this past week, a historic, very hard-for-the-grade, 5.14c in the Virgin River Gorge, AZ.
The part that is especially impressive about Mike’s send is the amount of time and dedication he put in to the route, without giving up. 58 times he fell past the first two boulder problems on Necessary Evil, in the Route of all Evil crux, and still he believed.
I’d say that’s inspiring.
This is the article he wrote about his send of Necessary Evil, from his blog, mikedoyle.ca.
As he will tell you:
“Last summer I trained with only one goal in mind. I spent most of June, July and August doing hangboard workouts and trying to get stronger fingers. I think it paid off 🙂 .”
True. Training works:) Nice job Mike Doyle!
Also! Very exciting! We are doing a podcast interview with Mike coming soon- stay tuned!
