First of all, thanks for checking out TrainingBeta! I’m so excited to finally get TrainingBeta live on the interwebs! It’s been a long time coming! The idea for this site came in February 2013, and I’ve been working pretty diligently on it since then. It’s been sort of this long-term dream of mine that 9 months later is finally at a point where I feel comfortable sharing it with the world. I guess life gets in the way sometimes 🙂

I created this site with the help of some amazing climbers, trainers, and my husband, Seth Lytton, because I wanted climbers to have an accessible, realistic training resource. It’s one thing to learn about training for climbing from one climber or coach on a website or book, or even in person. But it’s another thing to have a bunch of talented climbers and coaches giving out valuable training advice all in one spot.

And that’s exactly what you’ll find here: articles, podcast interviews, and training plans from a variety of pro climbers, pro trainers & coaches, and other people who happen to know a ton about being strong, healthy, and fit.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you

I really want to thank the people who contributed to the site before it was ever even a site, since it wouldn’t be a site without those contributors. They are Seth Lytton, Paige Claassen, Jamie Emerson, Jonathan Siegrist, Angie Payne, Justen Sjong, Kris Peters, Shannon Forsman, Carlo Traversi, Alex Honnold, Madeleine Sorkin, Jonny Hork, Dave Sheldon, Chris Wall, and Ian Civgin. Thank you guys so much for your support and faith in this idea. I was honored to work with you all, and I hope to do it again sometime.

As a nutritionist, I’ll be writing my own articles here about food and how it relates to climbing performance. Nutrition is one of my favorite topics (obviously, or I wouldn’t have made it my career, I suppose), and I get a lot of questions about it at crags from climbers, so I know it’s on people’s minds. I’ll throw in some training advice of my own in the blog here and there, as well. If you want to know more about who I am, what I do outside of TrainingBeta, what I climb, and how I ended up here, you can check out my bio page here.

Alright, enough about me.

Please check out the site, read through some articles, listen to some podcasts (when they’re finally up!) and comment comment comment. Please let me know what information YOU want on this site. What kinds of information do you want, and from which climbers and trainers? What kinds of downloadable training programs do you want, and who do you want to write them? I’m here to serve you, so please let me know! If you want to email me to let me know, you can always find me at neely@trainingbeta.com.

Enjoy!

Neely

P.S. Oh, and don’t forget to subscribe to the site so you can get updates on posts, podcasts, and training programs! And thanks again for being here!
